What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative treatments use biological signals to support your body's own repair processes. At ASM.D. we offer two kinds.

Exosomes are tiny particles that cells use to send signals to each other. Ours come from donated umbilical cord tissue. They contain no living cells, so they are not stem cells.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is made from a small sample of your own blood, concentrated to carry more of your body's growth factors.

What we know, and what we don't

Exosome therapy is a new and fast-moving field. Exosome products are not approved by the FDA to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and early studies are small. We offer these treatments for their potential benefits, not as a cure. Before any treatment, our experts explain why a treatment is recommended, what the potential benefits and side effects are, and answer your questions. You give informed consent before you begin, and every therapy we offer has IRB oversight. These treatments are not covered by insurance.

Who should not have these treatments

  • Anyone with active cancer, in cancer treatment, or with a past history of cancer
  • Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Anyone with an active infection
  • Anyone with an autoimmune condition that is flaring or not well controlled (for example psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis or gout)
  • Anyone with sickle cell or another blood disorder
  • Anyone who has had a severe reaction to an injection, infusion or skin treatment

How your consultation works

Your consultation is $200, paid when you book. If you go ahead with treatment, the full $200 is credited toward it. You meet our experts, talk through your goals and health history, and leave with a personalized plan: which treatment, how many sessions, and what it costs.

Are exosomes the same as stem cells?

No. Exosomes are tiny particles that cells release to signal to each other. They contain no living cells, so exosome therapy is not stem cell therapy.

Are exosomes FDA approved?

No. Exosome products are not FDA approved to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. We offer them for their potential benefits after a consultation and informed consent, with IRB oversight.

What's the difference between exosomes and PRP?

PRP is made from your own blood. Exosomes come from donated umbilical cord tissue that has been screened and processed. Our experts can explain which may suit you better, or whether to use both.

How much does regenerative treatment cost?

It depends on the treatment and how many sessions you need, so we give you an exact cost at your consultation. The consultation is $200, and that $200 is credited toward your treatment if you go ahead.

Is it covered by insurance?

No. Regenerative treatments are not covered by insurance.

How many sessions will I need?

Most courses are 3 to 6 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, with maintenance sessions after that. Your plan depends on your goals and how you respond.

Is there downtime?

Very little. Skin treatments usually need about 24 hours, scalp treatments about 4 hours, and IV or nebulized treatments none.

Who should not have regenerative treatments?

People with active or past cancer, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with an active infection or an autoimmune condition that is flaring, and people with sickle cell or other blood disorders. We go through your history at your consultation.
