What it is

TED hair restoration uses sound waves to help products reach the scalp, without needles. Exosome therapy for hair adds Nano EX, an exosome product from Platinum Biologics, to that session. Exosomes are signaling particles from donated umbilical cord tissue; they contain no living cells.

Potential benefits

According to Platinum Biologics, Nano EX promotes healthy hair growth and noticeably reduces hair shedding. Small early studies of exosomes for hair are encouraging, but the evidence is still limited, and results vary from person to person. Our experts will tell you honestly what to expect for your hair.

Who it's for, and who it isn't

A good fit if you have thinning hair and stable health, and especially if you have tried TED and want to do more. Not suitable if you have active or past cancer, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or a flaring autoimmune condition, or have a blood disorder such as sickle cell.

What to expect

  • Before: a consultation with our experts and a signed consent.
  • On the day: your TED session, with Nano EX applied to the scalp. TED is needle-free.
  • After: your scalp may feel warm or a little tender for a few hours. Most people plan on about 4 hours of downtime.
  • Your course: 3 to 6 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, then maintenance every 3 to 6 months.

Exosomes or PRP with TED?

PRP uses growth factors from your own blood. Exosomes come from screened donor tissue, so no blood draw is needed. Platinum Biologics says PRP "doesn't work all that well" compared with its products; our experts can talk you through both options and help you choose.

About the product

According to Platinum Biologics, Nano EX contains about 30 billion exosomes derived from umbilical cord tissue, from screened mothers after full-term births, processed in an FDA-registered tissue bank and sterility-tested before release. Exosome products are not FDA approved to treat any disease.

Do exosomes regrow hair?

Some people see less shedding and fuller-looking hair, but the research is early and results vary. Exosomes are not FDA approved to treat hair loss. Our experts will give you an honest view at your consultation.

Does it hurt?

No. TED is needle-free, and Nano EX is applied to the scalp, not injected.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually 3 to 6, 4 to 6 weeks apart, then maintenance every 3 to 6 months.

How soon will I notice a difference?

Hair grows slowly, so most people judge results over several months rather than weeks.

Can I wash my hair afterward?

Most people plan on about 4 hours of downtime. We'll give you aftercare instructions on the day.

Should I choose exosomes or PRP with TED?

Both can be added to TED. PRP comes from your own blood; exosomes come from screened donor tissue. We help you decide at your consultation.

How much does it cost?

We give you the exact cost at your consultation. The $200 consultation fee is credited toward your treatment.

Who shouldn't have it?

Anyone with active or past cancer, pregnancy or breastfeeding, an active infection, a flaring autoimmune condition, or a blood disorder such as sickle cell.
