What it is

Microneedling and Morpheus8 create tiny channels in the skin. Applying Nano EX, an exosome product from Platinum Biologics, straight afterward lets it reach deeper while those channels are open. Exosomes are signaling particles from donated umbilical cord tissue; they contain no living cells.

Potential benefits

According to Platinum Biologics, Nano EX reduces post-treatment redness, minimizes healing time by up to 50%, and boosts elastin and collagen production, and can help with fine lines, pigment, scars, and skin texture and pores. Research on exosomes for skin is early, and results vary. Our experts will tell you honestly what to expect.

Who it's for, and who it isn't

A good fit if you are having microneedling or Morpheus8 and want to support your skin's recovery. Not suitable if you have active or past cancer, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or a flaring autoimmune condition, or have a blood disorder such as sickle cell.

What to expect

  • Before: a consultation with our experts and a signed consent.
  • On the day: your microneedling or Morpheus8 session, then Nano EX applied straight after.
  • After: redness and mild swelling, a bit like a sunburn, usually fade within a few hours to a day. Your skin may feel tight or dry, with light flaking for a few days. Most people plan on about 24 hours of downtime.
  • Your course: 3 to 6 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, then maintenance every 3 to 6 months.

About the product

According to Platinum Biologics, Nano EX contains about 30 billion exosomes derived from umbilical cord tissue, from screened mothers after full-term births, processed in an FDA-registered tissue bank and sterility-tested before release. It is freeze-dried and shelf-stable. Exosome products are not FDA approved to treat any disease.

Why add exosomes to microneedling?

Microneedling opens tiny channels in the skin, so whatever is applied right afterward reaches deeper. Platinum Biologics says Nano EX reduces redness and shortens healing time; the research is still early.

Can I add exosomes to Morpheus8?

Yes. Nano EX is applied right after your Morpheus8 session.

Is there downtime?

Most people plan on about 24 hours. Redness and mild swelling usually fade within a few hours to a day.

Exosomes or PRP with microneedling?

Both can be added. PRP comes from your own blood; exosomes come from screened donor tissue, so no blood draw is needed. We help you decide at your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually 3 to 6, 4 to 6 weeks apart, then maintenance every 3 to 6 months.

Are exosomes FDA approved?

No. Exosome products are not FDA approved to treat any disease. We offer them for their potential benefits after a consultation and informed consent.

How much does it cost?

We give you the exact cost at your consultation. The $200 consultation fee is credited toward your treatment.

Who shouldn't have it?

Anyone with active or past cancer, pregnancy or breastfeeding, an active infection, a flaring autoimmune condition, or a blood disorder such as sickle cell.
